Readyville Mill began operating as a grist mill on the Stones River about 1812. The original mill was constructed by Charles Ready, burned in the 1860s, and was rebuilt in the 1870s. This structure continued operations as one of several mills in the area, supporting farms and the few rural businesses. Besides grinding grain, the mill was used to operate a lumber operation, produce ice, and generate electricity. Readyville Mill had several owners over the years, occasionally changing names based upon the name of the new owner, and continued to operate into the latter half of the twentieth century. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The mill is owned by Karen and Robert Ford and  operates as a unique visitor’s destination in Cannon County. The Fords also own The Corners On The River and operate Goodness Gracious Cafe at the Mill.
